Publer alternative and competitors, compared for content teams

Publer is a social media scheduler with the friendliest pricing model in its category, and any honest comparison has to start there. It keeps a permanent free plan for 3 social accounts, charges by connected account rather than by seat, sells extra teammates for $2 a month, and gives away every tenth account on annual billing. Professional includes unlimited scheduling, unlimited drafts, unlimited workspaces and permanent post history at $4 per account a month. For pure publishing volume per dollar, very little in the US market beats it.

So people rarely search for a Publer alternative because Publer is expensive. They search for one of two other reasons. The first group hit a capability wall rather than a price wall: analytics, competitor tracking, best-times-to-post and API access all sit behind the Business plan, and the unified inbox and social listening that bigger suites include are not really Publer's territory at all. The second group has Publer configured perfectly and a queue that keeps emptying, because a scheduler is machinery for distributing posts that already exist. That second half is what Adapter.to does. Paste a blog post, a YouTube video, a podcast or a URL and it writes the LinkedIn post, the X thread, the Instagram caption, the Facebook post and the email, each shaped for its channel, then hands you the text to load into Publer or anywhere else.

The short answer

Publer is a scheduling and recycling tool, not a content writer. Read off publer.com in August 2026, it keeps a permanent free plan for 3 social accounts (no X), then charges per connected account: $5 for one, $4.50 each for two and $4.00 each from three upward on Professional, and $10, $8.50 and $7.00 on Business. Annual billing is exactly 20 percent off, more than the "2 months free" badge implies, and the "every 10th account free" offer applies to annual prices only, which makes ten accounts 28 percent cheaper paid yearly. Extra teammates cost $2 a month on Professional and $3 on Business. Analytics, competitor analysis, best times to post and API access are Business-only. Nothing in Publer turns a published article, video or podcast into a week of channel-native posts. Adapter.to does that upstream job from $29 a month and hands you the text to queue in Publer.

Publer is a low-cost scheduler that prices by connected social account, keeps a real free tier, and puts analytics and API access behind its Business plan. Adapter.to is a repurposing writer: it reads a blog post, video, podcast or URL and produces the native post for every channel, then stops at the text. Pick Publer if the job is publishing consistently to many accounts on a small budget. Pick Adapter.to if the accounts are already connected and the thing that keeps slipping is producing enough posts to fill them.

What does Publer actually do?

Publer is a scheduler and it is unusually complete for the money. You connect social accounts, compose a post once, customize it per network, and drop it on a calendar or into a recurring queue. Around that core sit bulk scheduling of up to 500 posts from a CSV, RSS automations that turn a feed into scheduled posts, a link-in-bio page, a browser extension, a threads composer that handles X, Threads, Bluesky and Mastodon, and evergreen recycling that brings good posts back around.

It publishes to 13 destinations, which is at the wide end of the category: Facebook profiles, pages, locations and groups, Instagram business and creator accounts, TikTok personal and business, X, Threads, LinkedIn profiles and pages, Pinterest, Mastodon, Google Business Profiles, YouTube channels, Telegram groups and channels, Bluesky, and WordPress blogs. Publishing to a WordPress site from a social scheduler is genuinely unusual.

The pricing model deserves credit because it is the friendliest structure in the category. Publer charges per connected social account rather than per seat, so a five-person team sharing three accounts pays for three accounts. Extra teammates are $2 a month on Professional. There is a permanent free plan rather than a trial. And the annual discount is exactly 20 percent, which is quietly better than the "2 months free" badge on the toggle claims.

What Publer does not do at any price is read something you already published and produce the posts themselves. Its AI writes captions from a prompt you supply, and Business unlocks unlimited prompts. The calendar, the queues, the recycling and the bulk import are all machinery for circulating content that exists. They are good machinery, and they do nothing about an empty queue.

How much does Publer cost?

Read off publer.com in August 2026, Publer has a free plan, two self-serve paid plans and a quoted Enterprise tier. The free plan covers 1 user, 1 workspace, 3 social accounts, 10 scheduled posts per account and 24 hours of post history, and it cannot connect X at all. Professional and Business are both priced per connected social account on a small volume ladder: the first account costs $5.00 a month, each of two accounts costs $4.50, and from three accounts upward every account costs $4.00. Business runs the same shape at $10.00, $8.50 and $7.00.

That makes three accounts $12 a month on Professional and $21 on Business billed monthly, or $9.60 and $16.80 a month billed yearly. Ten accounts are $40 and $70 monthly, or $28.80 and $50.40 yearly. Extra teammates are $2 a month on Professional and $3 on Business, and the plan owner does not count toward the limit. Professional carries a 7-day free trial and Business a 14-day one, with a 14-day money-back guarantee behind both. VAT is not included in the listed prices.

Two rules quietly move the total and neither is stated fully on the pricing page. The annual discount is exactly 20 percent rather than the 16.67 percent that "2 months free" describes. And the "for every 9 social accounts, the 10th one is free" offer is applied to annual prices only, so ten accounts billed monthly are charged as ten while ten billed yearly are charged as nine. Our full breakdown, with the price at every account count and the complete daily post limits table, is on the Publer pricing article.

Where Publer genuinely beats the alternatives

A comparison page that only finds faults is no use to anyone deciding, and Publer wins on more points than most tools we have compared. Four of them are worth stating plainly.

  • Cost per social account. $4.00 a month per account on Professional at three or more accounts, with every tenth account free on annual billing. Sprout Social starts at $79 per seat per month and Hootsuite at $99 per user per month. For running many accounts on a small budget, Publer is close to the best deal available.
  • Seat cost. $2 a month for an extra teammate is the cheapest in the category by a wide margin. SocialBee charges $10 a month per extra user and includes exactly one user on both of its cheapest tiers. Agorapulse prices entirely per seat.
  • A real free plan. Permanent rather than a trial, covering 3 social accounts with scheduling included. Vista Social removed its free plan entirely and now starts at $79. The catch on Publer is that X cannot be connected on the free tier.
  • Unlimited workspaces on the cheap plan. Professional includes unlimited workspaces at $4 an account. SocialBee includes one workspace on Bootstrap and one on Accelerate, and charges $10 a month for each extra. For an agency separating client work, that difference is worth more than the headline rate.

Where Publer runs out of road

The limits are real but they are capability limits, not pricing traps. The largest is that measurement lives entirely on the Business plan. Professional gives you permanent post history but no analytics insights, no reports, no best-times-to-post and no competitor analysis. If you need to show a client what worked, Professional is not enough at any account count, and the upgrade costs $3 more per account per month, which is $360 a year at ten accounts.

API access sits behind the same gate. There is no separate API price and no add-on: it is bundled into Business and unavailable below it. For a developer connecting one account purely to automate publishing, that is $10 a month billed monthly, which is still cheap, but it does mean the free and Professional tiers are closed to automation.

Publer also caps how many posts each profile can publish per day, and the caps change by plan and by network. LinkedIn profiles are the tightest at 10 a day on Free and 12 on Professional. X, Mastodon and Bluesky double from 50 to 100 between Professional and Business. Most people never touch these ceilings, but anyone bulk-loading a backlog after a content sprint will, and the full table is published on Publer's own pricing page under "Daily Post Limits".

Finally, the things bigger suites are bought for are not Publer's territory. There is no unified social inbox of the kind Agorapulse is built around, no social listening, and no approval workflow with multi-stage sign-off. If those are the requirement, the comparison is not really with Publer at all.

What is the best Publer alternative?

It depends which wall you hit, and the walls point to completely different products. Work out which one is biting before you shop, because Publer is cheap enough that most people are not actually looking for a cheaper tool.

  • You need analytics without the Business upgrade. Metricool includes analytics on its paid tiers and keeps a free plan for one brand, though it excludes LinkedIn and X from the free tier and charges $10 a month per connected X account on paid plans.
  • You need a unified inbox. Agorapulse has the strongest inbox in the category and moderates ad comments too, at the cost of per-seat pricing and a 10-profile cap on every named tier.
  • You need enterprise reporting and listening. Sprout Social is the deeper and far more expensive suite, with Hootsuite sitting between the two.
  • You want stronger evergreen recycling. SocialBee is built around content categories and recurring queues, which is a more structured version of the same idea, though it has no free plan and one seat on its cheapest tiers.
  • You want simpler and more polished. Buffer charges $5 a month per channel at the annual rate and keeps a free plan for 3 channels with no network excluded, which is the more usable of the two free tiers.
  • You live on one network. A dedicated tool beats a broad scheduler on its own ground: Typefully for X, Taplio or Supergrow for LinkedIn.
  • Video is most of what you publish. Opus Clip cuts long video into vertical clips, a job every scheduler above expects you to arrive with already done.
  • The queue keeps running dry. That is a production problem, not a scheduling problem, and no scheduler fixes it. Adapter.to turns one source into every channel-native post, then you load them into Publer and let the calendar do its job.

Publer versus Adapter.to: distributing against producing

These two barely overlap, which is why the table above carries crosses on seven of our rows. Publer owns everything that happens once a post exists: which network it goes to, when it publishes, how it is customized per channel, how often it recycles, and on Business what the analytics say afterwards. Adapter.to owns the post itself, made from the article, video or podcast you already produced.

Publer's bulk tools sharpen the point rather than softening it. Importing 500 posts from a CSV is a wonderful feature and it presumes you have 500 posts. Evergreen recycling is a multiplier on your library, and a multiplier applied to a small library gives you the same dozen posts circulating faster, which followers notice before any dashboard does. The way out is more source material, and Publer has no lever for that at any tier.

Put a number on the half Publer leaves to you. If turning one source into an X thread, a LinkedIn post, Instagram captions and an email takes two to three hours by hand, and you publish four sources a month, that is roughly ten hours of writing a month that no scheduler touches. Three accounts on Publer Professional cost $9.60 a month at the annual rate. The writing costs considerably more and never appears on an invoice.

Can you use Publer and Adapter.to together?

Yes, and for most Publer customers that is the sensible setup rather than a switch. Publer is inexpensive and does its job well, so replacing it to solve a writing problem is the wrong trade. Adapter.to reads your article, video or podcast and writes the LinkedIn post, the X thread, the Instagram caption, the Facebook post and the email. You paste those into Publer's composer, or bulk-load them through its CSV import, and let the calendar publish and recycle them as it already does.

Nothing needs integrating, because Adapter.to returns plain text and Publer accepts pasted copy on every plan including the free one. The content repurposing software page walks through every feature in order, the AI content repurposing tool page shows what one source turns into across every channel, the content repurposing for agencies page covers the multi-client version of this workflow, and the content repurposing tools comparison lists verified pricing across the category side by side.

Why creators pick Adapter.to

One tool that adapts any source to every channel

Fills the queue, not just the calendar

Publer distributes what you already wrote. Adapter.to writes what goes in, from a blog post, video or podcast you already made.

Publer is cheap, so add rather than replace

Professional is $4 per account a month and teammates are $2. Adapter.to does a different job, so most teams run both and still pay less than one enterprise seat.

Keep the scheduler you rely on

Adapter.to stops at the text, so it pairs with Publer instead of replacing it. Write with one, schedule and recycle with the other.

Good questions

Publer vs Adapter.to, answered

It is if what you actually needed was the content, not the scheduling. Publer publishes to 13 networks, recycles evergreen posts and reports on them from its Business plan. Adapter.to writes the posts: paste a blog post, video, podcast or URL and it returns the native version for every channel, then hands you the text to schedule anywhere. Publer is inexpensive and good at its job, so if the calendar is working for you, keep it and add a writer upstream rather than switching.
Read off publer.com in August 2026, Publer keeps a permanent free plan for 3 social accounts, excluding X. Paid plans are priced per connected account: $5.00 a month for one account, $4.50 each for two and $4.00 each from three upward on Professional, and $10.00, $8.50 and $7.00 on Business. Three accounts are therefore $12 a month on Professional and $21 on Business, or $9.60 and $16.80 billed yearly. Extra teammates are $2 a month on Professional and $3 on Business. The full arithmetic is on our Publer pricing breakdown.
Yes, and it is permanent rather than a trial. The free plan covers 1 user, 1 workspace, 3 social accounts, 10 scheduled posts per account at a time, 25 saved drafts and 24 hours of post history. Two limits decide whether it works for you: X cannot be connected on the free plan at all, and the 24-hour post history means published posts disappear from your records after a day, so any retrospective reporting is impossible.
They are close, and the answer depends on account count. Both price per connected account and both keep a real free plan for 3 accounts. Publer is cheaper per account at three or more, $4.00 a month against Buffer at $5.00 on the annual rate, and the gap widens at ten accounts where Publer gives the tenth free on annual billing. Buffer has the more usable free tier because it excludes no network, where Publer blocks X on free. Buffer is the more polished product; Publer covers more networks and costs less.
Publer reserves measurement for its Business plan. Professional includes permanent post history, so you can see what went out, but analytics insights, reports, best times to post, competitor analysis and hashtag analytics are all Business-only, as is API access. The upgrade costs $3 more per account per month at three or more accounts, which is $360 a year at ten accounts. If you never open a report, Professional is the whole product.
Yes. Publer caps daily posts per profile and the cap varies by plan and network. Facebook posts run 12 a day per profile on Free, 24 on Professional and 36 on Business. Instagram runs 15, 20 and 25. LinkedIn profiles are the tightest at 10, 12 and 14. X, Mastodon and Bluesky run 25, 50 and 100, and Enterprise is unlimited on every row. Most schedules never reach these ceilings, but bulk-loading a backlog can.
Not currently. Publer sells a free tier, Professional, Business and a quoted Enterprise plan, and no lifetime option appears on its pricing page in August 2026. Its billing system still recognizes a legacy lifetime plan type, consistent with the lifetime promotions it ran previously, so existing lifetime accounts continue to be honored. If you see a new Publer lifetime deal advertised elsewhere, treat it with caution and buy from Publer directly.
No. Publer's AI assistant drafts captions from a prompt you type, and Business removes the limit on prompts, but nothing in the product reads an article, video or podcast you published and produces channel-native posts from it. That is the job Adapter.to does: one source in, a week of posts out, which you then schedule in Publer.
