Planoly alternative and apps like Planoly priced side by side for 2026

Planoly is a visual social media planner that made its name with the Instagram grid preview and now also runs a link in bio storefront, Instagram DM automation and auto-posting to eight networks. Read off planoly.com on October 1, 2026, Starter costs $16 a month, Growth $28 and Pro $55, or $14, $24 and $47 a month billed annually.

People look for a Planoly alternative for one of two reasons. Either they need more than the plan allows (a second brand, a third teammate, deeper analytics or approvals) and want to know what that costs elsewhere, or the planner works fine and the problem is filling it, because a pretty grid still needs a caption under every square. The second one is what Adapter.to fixes. Paste a blog post, a YouTube video, a podcast episode or a URL and it writes the Instagram captions, the TikTok script, the LinkedIn post and the X thread from it, each shaped for its channel, ready to drop into Planoly or any other scheduler.

The short answer

Planoly is a visual social media planner and link in bio storefront, not a repurposing writer. Read off planoly.com on October 1, 2026, Starter costs $16 a month for 1 social set and 1 user, Growth $28 for 2 social sets and 2 users, and Pro $55 for 6 social sets and 6 users, or $14, $24 and $47 a month billed annually. Every plan now includes unlimited uploads, link in bio, product sales and Instagram DM automation, and a social set is one account on each of eight networks. The lineup changed after November 2025, when Pro cost $43 for 2 social sets and Starter capped uploads at 60 a month, so many comparison pages quote dead numbers. Planoly costs about half of what Later charges for the same 1, 2 and 6 social sets. Adapter.to writes the captions and posts that fill the planner, from $29 a month.

Small business owner planning a week of social posts on a laptop calendar

Planoly is a planner and publisher: it shows how posts will look on the grid, holds the media library, schedules or reminds you to post, and sells through a link in bio page. Adapter.to is a repurposing writer: it reads a finished blog post, video, podcast or URL and produces new channel-native copy. Planoly decides where and when a post goes, Adapter.to writes what it says, and a planner with a full month of captions is the one that actually gets used.

What does Planoly actually do?

Planoly started as an Instagram planner, and the grid preview is still its signature: you drag photos into a three-column mock of your feed and rearrange them until the profile looks right before anything goes live. Around that it has grown into a full creator toolkit. It auto-posts to Instagram, Facebook, X, Pinterest, LinkedIn, YouTube, Threads and TikTok where the platforms allow it, and sends a push notification to post natively where they do not, which matters for Reels with trending audio. It keeps a media library, a content calendar with holidays and trending formats, an AI idea generator for post ideas, keywords and caption suggestions, Instagram DM auto-replies, and a link in bio page that sells digital products, merch and bookings with zero transaction fees.

What it does not do is read a new blog post, podcast episode or webinar and write the week of captions and posts that come out of it. Planoly's AI suggests ideas from your brand settings and a prompt. The grid can be planned weeks ahead and still sit half empty, because the hard part was never dragging the photo into the slot, it was writing what goes under it.

How much does Planoly cost?

We read planoly.com/pricing on October 1, 2026, and cross-checked the figures against the plan table in the page's own code, which lists a monthly and a yearly price for each plan. Prices are in US dollars. Every paid plan has a 14-day free trial, and the only free plan lives in the mobile app with 10 uploads a month.

  • Starter, $16 a month or $14 a month billed annually. 1 social set, 1 user, unlimited uploads, link in bio, product sales and Instagram DM automation. No add-ons: a second set or user means upgrading.
  • Growth, $28 a month or $24 billed annually. 2 social sets, 2 users, the same features. Extra social sets cost $10 a month and extra users $5.
  • Pro, $55 a month or $47 billed annually. 6 social sets and 6 users. Extra social sets cost $8 a month and extra users $3.
  • What a social set is. One account on each supported network: Instagram, Facebook, X, Pinterest, LinkedIn, YouTube, Threads and TikTok. Two Instagram accounts always mean two sets, even with nothing else connected.
  • The annual discount. The toggle says "Save up to 15%". The arithmetic gives 12.5 percent on Starter, 14.3 on Growth and 14.5 on Pro, so no plan actually reaches 15. Annual plans are billed upfront.

Planoly changed its plans, and most comparisons still quote the old ones

The Internet Archive copy of planoly.com/pricing from November 12, 2025 shows a different lineup. Starter was the same $16 but capped uploads at 60 a month. Growth was $28 for 1 social set and 3 users. Pro was $43 a month ($37 annually) for 2 social sets and 6 users. Link in bio selling was a separate Creator Store product at $20 a month, or $54 for Pro Plus with the CRM. By the snapshot of June 29, 2026, the current lineup was live, and it is unchanged today.

So the new Pro costs 28 percent more but carries three times the social sets, and the price per set fell from $21.50 to about $9.17 a month. Growth went the other way for teams: it gained a second set but lost a seat, so a three-person team that paid $28 now pays $33 with the extra user. If a roundup tells you Starter has 60 uploads, Pro is $43 or the store costs extra, it is describing plans Planoly no longer sells.

Starter, Growth or Pro, and where the plans cross over

Per social set, Planoly gets cheaper as you climb: $16 on Starter, $14 on Growth and about $9.17 on Pro, billed monthly. Growth with add-ons stays cheaper than Pro up to 4 social sets ($48), but a fifth set takes it to $58, already above Pro's $55 for 6 sets and 6 users. A team that needs 4 sets and 4 users lands at $58 on Growth as well. From 5 social sets, or 4 sets with 4 people, Pro is the cheaper plan.

Starter is the trap for anyone who might grow. It has no add-ons at all, so the moment an assistant needs a login or a second brand appears, the bill jumps from $16 to $28 plus whatever the extra seat costs.

Where Planoly genuinely beats the alternatives

A comparison that only lists faults helps nobody choose. Planoly wins outright in three places.

  • Price against Later. The two tools now use the same 1, 2 and 6 social-set ladder, and Planoly costs about half: $16 against $25, $28 against $50, and $55 against $110 on monthly billing. Pro also includes 6 users where Later Scale includes 4.
  • No post caps. Uploads are unlimited on every plan. Later caps scheduling at 30 posts per profile on Starter and 180 on Growth.
  • Selling from the bio link. A storefront with digital products, merch and bookings at zero transaction fees is included on the $16 plan, where most schedulers stop at a list of links.

What is the best Planoly alternative?

It depends on what made you look. Here is the shortlist, with prices read off each vendor's own site in 2026.

  • You want deeper analytics, approvals and an inbox. Later Growth is $50 a month ($37.50 billed yearly) for 2 social sets and 2 users with approvals, a social inbox and a year of analytics. Scale at $110 adds competitive benchmarking and Meta Ads analytics. You pay roughly double Planoly for it.
  • You only post to a few accounts and want the lowest bill. Buffer charges $5 a channel on Essentials, and Publer Professional works out to $4 an account from the third. Three channels cost $12 to $15, under Planoly Starter.
  • You manage many brands and care about reports. Metricool prices by brand and leads on analytics for the money.
  • The grid looks right and the captions keep running late. Adapter.to turns one blog post, video, podcast or URL into Instagram captions, TikTok and Reels scripts, LinkedIn posts, X threads and a newsletter section, and you drop them into Planoly to schedule.

Planoly vs Later, Buffer and Publer on price

Three workloads, monthly list prices read off each vendor's own pricing page.

Solo creator on Instagram, TikTok and Pinterest. Planoly Starter $16 covers all three in one set. Later Starter $25. Buffer Essentials $15 for three channels and Publer Professional $12. If the grid preview and the bio storefront matter, Planoly is the cheapest tool that has both.

Small brand team, two brands on four networks, three people. Planoly Growth $28 plus one $5 user, $33. Later Growth $50 plus one $5 user, $55. Buffer at $5 to $10 a channel is $40 to $80 for the eight channels. Planoly wins clearly here.

Agency with six client brands and six people. Planoly Pro $55. Later Scale $110 plus two users, about $120. At this size the reason to pay Later's price is its analytics, inbox and approvals, not scheduling. Our cheapest social media scheduler comparison runs more tools through the same arithmetic.

Why a planned grid still runs out of captions

Visual planners make the layout easy and leave the writing exactly as hard as it was. A creator posting five times a week to Instagram, plus TikTok and Pinterest, needs around twenty captions or scripts a month, each in a different shape: a hook and line breaks for Instagram, a spoken script for TikTok, a keyword-heavy description for Pinterest. Most of them already have the raw material in a blog post, a YouTube video or a podcast episode they published last month.

Put a number on it. Turning one article into three Instagram captions, a Reels script, a LinkedIn post and a newsletter section takes about two hours by hand. Four sources a month is eight hours, several times the $29 Creator plan at any realistic US hourly rate. That is why the table above carries neutral crosses on seven of our rows: Planoly owns the grid, the publishing and the storefront, and Adapter.to owns the writing that fills them.

Can you use Planoly and Adapter.to together?

Yes, and if the grid preview and the bio storefront are why you chose Planoly, that is the sensible setup. Once a week, paste your newest article, episode or video into Adapter.to, copy the captions it writes into the matching Planoly posts, and let the planner handle the layout and timing. Nothing needs integrating, because Adapter.to returns plain text.

Instagram-first teams usually start with the Instagram caption generator, writers with repurpose blog posts, and anyone starting from a published page with URL to social media posts. Verified pricing for every tool in the category is on the content repurposing tools comparison, and the full Planoly price breakdown is in our Planoly pricing review.

Why creators pick Adapter.to

One tool that adapts any source to every channel

Captions for the grid you already planned

Planoly lays out the feed. Adapter.to turns a finished blog post, video, podcast or URL into the captions, scripts and posts that go under it.

Keep Planoly if price and the storefront matter

At $16, $28 and $55 a month Planoly costs about half of Later for the same social sets, with unlimited uploads and a bio storefront on every plan.

Switch for analytics or approvals

Later Growth adds approvals, an inbox and a year of analytics for $50. Buffer and Publer cost less if you only schedule a few channels.

Good questions

Planoly vs Adapter.to, answered

It is if what you are missing is captions, not planning. Planoly plans the grid, schedules posts and runs a bio storefront. Adapter.to writes Instagram captions, TikTok scripts, LinkedIn posts and X threads from a blog post, video, podcast or URL you already have, from $29 a month. Most teams keep Planoly for the grid and add Adapter.to to fill it.
Read off planoly.com on October 1, 2026: Starter is $16 a month for 1 social set and 1 user, Growth $28 for 2 sets and 2 users, and Pro $55 for 6 sets and 6 users. Billed annually they are $14, $24 and $47 a month. Growth adds sets at $10 and users at $5, Pro at $8 and $3.
Only on the mobile app, where the free plan includes 10 uploads a month. Every paid plan comes with a 14-day free trial, after which the cheapest option is Starter at $16 a month or $14 a month billed annually.
For analytics, approvals and a social inbox, yes: Later Growth includes all three. For price, no. Both use 1, 2 and 6 social sets, and Planoly costs $16, $28 and $55 a month against Later's $25, $50 and $110, with unlimited uploads where Later caps posts per profile on its lower plans.
A social set is one account on each supported network: Instagram, Facebook, X, Pinterest, LinkedIn, YouTube, Threads and TikTok. Two Instagram accounts always need two sets. Starter includes 1 set, Growth 2 and Pro 6, and extra sets cost $10 on Growth and $8 on Pro.
For two or three channels, Publer Professional at about $4 an account and Buffer Essentials at $5 a channel cost less than Planoly Starter at $16. Neither has Planoly's grid-first planning or bio storefront, so the saving only holds if you do not need them.
Later is the closest like-for-like visual planner, Buffer and Publer compete on low-cost scheduling, Metricool on analytics, and Hootsuite and Sprout Social on full team suites. For writing new posts from content you already have rather than planning them, Adapter.to.
No. Adapter.to writes the content and returns finished text; it does not connect social accounts, preview a grid or publish. You paste its output into Planoly or any other scheduler, which is why the two pair rather than compete.
