Facebook post scheduler: schedule FB posts, reels and stories, and the limits every Facebook scheduling tool shares
Scheduling a Facebook post is one of the few things in social media software that is genuinely free. Meta Business Suite queues posts to any Page you manage, costs nothing, and is built by the company that owns the network. Any comparison that skips past that to a paid list is selling you something, so this page starts by saying it plainly: if Facebook is the only network you publish to, you may not need to buy anything.

The short answer
A Facebook post scheduler queues posts to a Facebook Page and publishes them without you logging in. Verified in August 2026, entry prices run from free to $99 a seat a month, and Meta Business Suite does the core job at no cost. Three Meta rules bind every tool equally: posts handed to Facebook must be scheduled between 10 minutes and 30 days out, publishing works on Pages and not personal profiles, and the Pages API budget is 4,800 calls per 24 hours multiplied by your engaged users rather than a flat post cap.
What you are actually buying when you pay is the other networks, the approval workflow, the reporting, and release from Meta's own scheduling window. Underneath that, three platform rules apply identically to every product on this page, and they are the part almost no roundup gets right. Every price below was read off the vendor's own pricing page between August 9 and August 26, 2026, and every Meta limit was read off Meta's own developer documentation on August 26, 2026.

Why it works
What you get
Every Facebook scheduling tool, priced by the unit it actually counts, plus the Meta rules that apply identically to all of them.
Meta Business Suite is free and good
If Facebook and Instagram are your only networks and one person publishes, the free tool does the job. We would rather say so than sell you a plan you do not need.
The 30-day wall has a technical cause
Meta's Pages API only accepts a scheduled time between 10 minutes and 30 days out. Third-party tools hold the post themselves and call the API at publish time, which is how they queue further ahead.
Facebook has no flat post cap
Instagram stops every tool at 100 API posts per 24 hours. Facebook instead grants 4,800 calls per 24 hours times your engaged users, so the ceiling grows with your audience.
What it handles
One input, rewritten for every channel
Drop in your source and Adapter.to reshapes it into channel-native posts, each with the right tone, length and format. You pick a tone, edit anything, and ship.
- Writes the Facebook posts your scheduler publishes, from a blog post, video, podcast, newsletter or URL
- Produces a Facebook version that reads natively instead of the same text cross-posted to every network
- Runs alongside Meta Business Suite, Buffer, Publer, Sendible or whichever scheduler you already use
- Covers Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube and email from one source asset
- Keeps your voice through a tone setting rather than producing the same template every week
Why Adapter.to
One tool that adapts any source to every channel
Not a video clipper, not a single-channel writer, and not copy-pasting between ChatGPT tabs. Any source in, every format out, each rewritten natively, in your voice.
Any source in
A blog URL, a YouTube video, a podcast, a newsletter or a pasted draft. One input is all it takes to feed every channel you publish on.
Every format out
An X thread, a LinkedIn post, an IG caption, a TikTok script, a newsletter, an email and more, each shaped to the platform, not the same text reflowed.
In your voice
Set a brand voice and pick a tone, then edit anything before you post. Every channel sounds like you, professional, casual or bold.
What is the best Facebook post scheduler?
For Facebook alone, Meta Business Suite is the best tool and it is free. It publishes to Pages, handles photos, videos, reels and stories, and nothing third party gets a better connection to Facebook than the company that runs Facebook. The honest reason to look past it is that it only covers Meta properties, its calendar view is thin, and it inherits the scheduling window described further down this page.
Once a second network is involved the answer changes, and it changes on billing rather than features. Buffer at $5 a channel a month is the cheapest credible paid entry and includes unlimited users. Zoho Social at $10 a month billed annually covers a whole brand rather than charging per channel. For an agency running separate clients, Sendible at $35 a workspace and Planable at $39 both include unlimited users, so growing the team does not move the invoice. Sprout Social, Hootsuite and Agorapulse all sit at $99 per seat and are reporting products first.
The category-wide version of this question, covering every network rather than Facebook, sits on our social media scheduler comparison, which prices sixteen tools by the unit each one counts. The same treatment for LinkedIn, where a profile and a Company Page count as two separate connections, is on the LinkedIn post scheduler page.
How do you schedule posts on Facebook?
Open Meta Business Suite, choose the Page, click Create post, write the post, then use the arrow beside the Publish button and pick Schedule. Set a date and time and the post moves into the Planner. That is the whole flow, it costs nothing, and it works on desktop and in the Business Suite mobile app.
A third-party scheduler adds one step at the start, which is connecting your Page once through Facebook Login, and then removes several later. You write the Facebook version alongside the LinkedIn and Instagram versions in one composer, send the batch for approval if somebody has to sign off, and publish everything on one calendar. The value is in the workflow, not in the scheduling itself.
One practical warning that applies either way. Scheduling only works on Pages, so if you are trying to schedule from a personal profile the option will not appear. Meta's publishing API supports Pages and Groups and does not support personal timelines, which is why no scheduler on this page can offer it either.
How far in advance can you schedule Facebook posts?
This is where the published advice contradicts itself, and the developer documentation settles it. Meta's Pages API states that a scheduled post must be set for a time "between 10 minutes and 30 days from the time of the API request". That is the hard technical ceiling on any post handed to Facebook to hold, and it is the reason so many Page owners report hitting a wall at roughly 30 days.
Meta's own help pages have referenced a longer 75-day window, and plenty of articles still repeat it. Treat 30 days as the number to plan around, because it is the one written into the interface that actually stores your post, and treat anything longer as something to verify on your own account before you build a quarter of content on it.
Here is the part that matters commercially, and almost nobody explains it. A third-party scheduler is not bound by that window, because it does not hand the post to Facebook in advance. It keeps the post in its own database and calls the Facebook API at publish time, which is always inside the 10-minute-to-30-day window by definition. That is the honest technical reason a paid tool can hold a six-month content calendar and Meta Business Suite cannot, and it is a real reason to pay if you plan far ahead.
Can you schedule posts on a Facebook personal account?
No, and no product can sell you around it. Facebook's publishing API supports Pages and Groups. Personal profiles are not part of it, so there is no route by which Meta Business Suite, Buffer, Hootsuite, Later or anything else can post to your personal timeline on a timer.
What some tools offer instead is a reminder. At the scheduled moment the app sends a push notification, you open it, and it hands the content to the Facebook app so you can post it in a couple of taps. Publer and a handful of others do this. It is genuinely useful and it is not automation, so read the wording on any product that advertises personal profile scheduling.
If you are running a business from a personal profile, converting to a Page is the fix that unlocks everything on this list at once, along with reporting, ads and multiple admins. It is the single highest-value change most small operators can make, and it costs nothing.
Can you schedule Facebook reels and stories?
Reels, yes, on Pages. Meta Business Suite schedules Facebook reels for Pages, and the mainstream schedulers including Buffer, Later, Publer, SocialBee and Vista Social have supported reel scheduling for Pages for some time. Reels cannot be scheduled to groups or personal profiles, which is the same Pages-only boundary as everything else here.
Stories are the weaker link across the category. Support is inconsistent between tools, and where it exists it is sometimes a reminder rather than true auto-publishing. If Facebook stories are a real part of your plan, check the specific vendor rather than assuming, because "schedules stories" in a feature table can mean two different things.
The Instagram side of this behaves differently enough to be worth reading separately. Instagram stories and reels are both publishable through Meta's API, but whether a given post goes out unattended depends on the features you use in it rather than on which tool you bought. We covered that in the Instagram post scheduler breakdown.
How many Facebook posts can you schedule per day?
Facebook does not publish a flat daily post cap the way Instagram does, and the difference between the two networks is larger than most people assume. Instagram is capped at 100 API-published posts per rolling 24 hours per professional account, with a carousel counting as one. Facebook instead governs Pages with a call budget.
Meta documents that budget as "Calls within 24 hours = 4800 * Number of Engaged Users", where engaged users means the number of people who engaged with the Page in that 24-hour period. Practically, a Page with an active audience has an enormous ceiling and will never notice it. The counter-intuitive consequence is that the budget scales with engagement, so a brand-new Page with almost no activity has the least headroom, which is the opposite of what most people expect.
On top of Meta's rules, two schedulers add caps of their own. Publer publishes a daily limit per network per plan, which for Facebook is 12 posts a day on the free tier rising to 36 on Business. Planable caps total posts per month rather than accounts, at 60 on Basic and 150 on Pro. Everyone else on the table publishes no post cap at all.
Is a paid Facebook scheduler worth it when Meta Business Suite is free?
If Facebook and Instagram are your only networks, one person publishes, and you plan a month ahead, the answer is genuinely no. Meta Business Suite covers that and the money is better spent elsewhere. We would rather say that than pretend otherwise.
Four things flip the answer. Publishing to networks outside Meta, because Business Suite will never cover LinkedIn, X, TikTok or YouTube. Planning further out than 30 days, for the technical reason set out above. Approvals, where somebody other than the author has to sign off before a post goes live, which Planable and Sendible are built around. And reporting across networks in one place, which is what the $99 seat products actually sell.
What none of them do is write the posts. Scheduling has been a solved problem for a decade; producing a Facebook version, a LinkedIn version and an X version of the same idea every week is the part that still takes a person an afternoon. That is the job our Facebook post generator does, and it runs alongside whichever scheduler you already pay for. The full picture of what the category charges is in our social media management pricing breakdown.
What is the best Facebook post scheduler for agencies?
Agencies should ignore the sticker price and look at the unit, because that is what multiplies. Sendible prices by workspace at $35 with unlimited users, and a workspace holds six social profiles, so a client with seven accounts consumes two. Planable prices by workspace at $39, also with unlimited users, and is the strongest product in the category for client review and approval before anything is published.
The trap to avoid is per-seat pricing at agency headcount. Sprout Social, Hootsuite and Agorapulse all charge $99 a seat, so a five-person team starts at $495 a month before anyone looks at what is included. Agorapulse compounds it by capping all three named tiers at 10 social profiles no matter how many seats you buy.
For a broader view of what agency teams actually run, including the tools that are not schedulers at all, our social media manager tools comparison groups the whole category by the job each product does. Agencies repurposing one client asset across many channels should also look at content repurposing for agencies.
