Is Metricool worth it?
Metricool is worth it for freelancers, small agencies and marketers who manage several brands and care most about analytics and client reports at a low cost per brand. On annual billing Starter costs $20 a month for 5 brands and Advanced $53 for 15, with unlimited team members on every plan. It rates 4.4 out of 5 on Capterra and holds a 4.0 TrustScore on Trustpilot. It is a weaker buy for teams that live in the inbox, for anyone who posts heavily to X, and for anyone who might want a refund on a renewal.

Metricool pricing at a glance
Metricool has no flat tier price. You choose a plan, then set a slider for how many brands you manage, and the price follows the slider.
| Plan | Brands | Billed annually, per month | Billed monthly |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | 1 | $0 | $0 |
| Starter | 5 or 10 | $20 or $36 | $25 or $45 |
| Advanced | 15, 25 or 50 | $53, $85 or $159 | $67, $107 or $210 |
| Custom | Above 50 | Quoted | Quoted |
| X add-on | Per X account | $120 a year | $10 |
Two line items change most real bills. X is not included in any plan, so each connected X account adds $10 a month on paid plans, and the free plan cannot post to X or LinkedIn at all. An Advanced Analytics add-on, from $12 a month on Starter and $36 on Advanced, unlocks Metricool Studio and unlimited campaign dashboards. There is no free trial of the paid plans; the permanent free plan is the trial.
What do Metricool reviews say?
Reviewers like the product and argue about the billing. That split shows up clearly in the numbers.
| Source | Rating | Reviews | What stands out |
|---|---|---|---|
| Capterra | 4.4 / 5 | 98 | Ease of use 4.5, customer service 4.0 |
| Trustpilot | 4.0 TrustScore | 669 | 81 percent five-star, 13 percent one-star |
The praise repeats across both sites. The analytics dashboard is the first thing people mention, followed by one-click PDF reports that save hours of client reporting, a clean interface that new users learn in an afternoon, and the Canva integration. Several reviewers call it the best value they have found for multi-network scheduling at this price.
The criticism clusters in two places. The first is billing: a noticeable share of one-star reviews describe being charged on an automatic renewal they expected to have stopped, then struggling to get the money back. The second is publishing quirks on Instagram, TikTok and YouTube Shorts, plus team notifications for Stories and Reels that only reach the account owner however many teammates you add. Customer service scores lower than ease of use on Capterra, 4.0 against 4.5, which fits the pattern.
Why do some Metricool reviews complain about renewals?
Because Metricool's terms do not refund renewals. Its legal terms give a 15-day withdrawal right from the date you first buy a plan, and state that this right does not apply to automatic renewals. Refunds are not made for the current billing cycle, monthly or yearly, and that includes X add-ons. Plans renew for the same period unless you cancel before the cycle ends.
The practical rule is simple. If you buy annual billing to get the 20 to 24 percent discount, put the renewal date in a calendar the day you pay, and cancel from the billing settings before it arrives if you are not sure. Cancelling keeps the plan running to the end of the period you already paid for. Metricool must warn you at least 15 days before a renewal if the price is going up, and the renewal only goes through at the new price if you do not object.
What are the pros and cons of Metricool?
Pros. The lowest cost per brand of any credible scheduler: $4 a brand on Starter at 5 brands and about $3.18 on Advanced at 50, on annual billing. Unlimited team members on every plan, so a growing agency never pays per seat. Strong cross-network analytics with unlimited history on paid plans, competitor tracking for up to 100 profiles, PDF and PowerPoint reports, and a Looker Studio connector. It publishes to Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn, YouTube, Pinterest, Threads, Bluesky, Twitch, Google Business Profile and X. Advanced adds approvals, client roles and API access through Zapier, Make and MCP.
Cons. X is a paid extra, $10 a month for each account. The inbox is thin next to Sprout Social, Hootsuite or Vista Social, so heavy comment and DM work outgrows it. No refunds on renewals. The free plan excludes LinkedIn and X and caps you at 20 scheduled posts a month. The eleventh brand forces a jump from Starter to Advanced. White label is only on the quoted Custom plan. And the AI assistant writes from a prompt, not from the content you already published.
Is Metricool good for agencies?
For agencies that sell reporting, yes, and it is the cheapest way to do it. Take ten clients, four staff logins, and X on four of those clients:
- Metricool Starter, annual: $36 for 10 brands plus $40 for four X accounts is $76 a month, with unlimited users and PDF reports.
- Metricool Advanced, annual: if you need client approvals, 15 brands cost $53, so $93 a month with the same X accounts.
- SocialPilot Premium: $100 for 25 accounts, which at 4 accounts a client means $160 for 40 accounts, with white label reports included. Our SocialPilot review covers the catches.
- Hootsuite: about $396 a month for four seats before any add-on, because it charges per user.
Metricool wins that comparison by a wide margin because it prices by brand, not by account or seat. What it does not give an agency is white-labeled reports below the Custom tier or a strong shared inbox. If clients expect reports under your own logo, SocialPilot or Sendible is usually the better buy. Our social media management software for agencies comparison runs the same roster through every major tool.
Metricool Starter vs Advanced, which plan do you need?
Starter covers publishing and reporting for up to 10 brands: unlimited scheduling under fair use, unlimited analytics history, LinkedIn, competitor tracking for 100 profiles, PDF and PowerPoint reports, and Canva. Advanced adds what a team with clients needs: up to 50 brands, team and client roles, a post approval flow, customizable report templates, the Looker Studio connector, API access and full X analytics.
Pick Advanced if a client has to approve posts before they go out, if you need more than 10 brands, or if the data has to flow into another reporting tool. Teams that pipe it into their own warehouse sometimes end up asking questions of that data with an AI data analyst that turns plain-English questions into SQL. Otherwise Starter does the job at less than half the price.
Is Metricool's free plan enough for a business?
Only as a test. The free plan is permanent and needs no card, but it covers 1 brand, 20 scheduled posts a month, 30 days of analytics history and 5 competitor profiles, with LinkedIn and X excluded. A business posting once a day on three networks fills the monthly cap in the first week. Since there is no trial of the paid plans, the realistic path is to test on the free plan, then buy one month of Starter on monthly billing before committing to annual.
Is Metricool cheaper than Buffer?
It depends on how many brands and channels you run. Buffer charges $5 a channel a month on Essentials and $10 a channel on Team. One brand on three channels is $15 on Buffer and $25 on Metricool Starter monthly, so Buffer is cheaper for one small brand. Five brands on three channels each is 15 channels, $75 on Buffer Essentials against $25 on Metricool monthly or $20 annual. Once you manage several brands, Metricool is far cheaper, and it includes more analytics. Our Buffer alternative page has the full comparison.
What Metricool does not do
Metricool schedules, measures and reports on posts that already exist. It does not turn your own work into those posts. Its AI assistant drafts copy from a topic you type, so you get a post about your subject rather than a post made of the article you published on Monday or the podcast you recorded on Tuesday.
That in-between step is where most Metricool calendars go empty. Turning one blog post, video or podcast into a week of channel-native posts takes two to three hours by hand, and that is the job Adapter.to does. Paste a source or a URL into the tool at the top of this page and it writes the LinkedIn post, the X thread, the Instagram caption, the TikTok script and the email, ready to drop into Metricool's planner. Plans start at $29 a month. The Metricool alternative page compares the two side by side, and repurpose content for social media shows the workflow.
Who should buy Metricool?
Buy it if you manage several brands, you report to clients or a manager, and you want the lowest cost per brand in the category with unlimited users. Few tools give you this much analytics for $20 to $53 a month on annual billing.
Look elsewhere if replying to comments and DMs is most of the job (our Vista Social review covers the inbox end), if clients expect white label reports on a budget (see the Publer review and SocialPilot for per-account options), or if you want the cheapest possible scheduler for a single brand (see the cheapest social media scheduler comparison). And whichever tool you pick, buy monthly first unless you are certain, because Metricool does not refund a renewal.
